Dead Water is a VR driven interactive story built with a team of 5 people. This project utilised Maya and Unreal engine in a production pipeline of asset created and game engine integration. The project tells the story of a boy reading a Captains log before getting sucked into the lost world of sea fairing exploration. Unfortunately for him the Kraken attacks the ship, and he is sent back to his room where something may have come back with him. This project involved me working in Unreal Engine creating the VR integration, which allowed the project to be experienced inside Meta’s line of virtual reality devices. I also created the sequences within the scene which allow for the movement of the set dressing. This included animating an orb flying around as well as the tentacles of the Kraken rising out of the ocean. This project culminated into the creation of a fully playable VR Story/Game prototype that focused on the culture and history of western sea fairing and the thin line between fact and fiction.
